Bernie Pochon Portrait CBT Therapist

Bernie Pochon. About Me

In 2010 I began training as a therapeutic counsellor as I felt I had an aptitude for and the desire to help people struggling with mental health problems and other life difficulties to make positive changes in their lives.

I successfully completed my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in February 2013 and promptly secured a role undertaking psychological assessments in a busy NHS talking therapies service. This role led me to be offered a place on a low intensity CBT course, and I undertook the Post Graduate Diploma in CBT at Newcastle University whilst working for a mental health charity from 2017-2019. Since then I have been lucky enough to undertake regular training courses to further increase my knowledge, and I am also an avid reader on the subject of mental health.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a professional graphic designer and I continue to be passionate about creativity and the arts. When appropriate, I incorporate creative methods into my practice to stimulate and inspire clients.

As a qualified, accredited therapist I attend regular supervision sessions and undertake continued professional development. I adhere to the standards and conduct of the BABCP, including the need to maintain confidentiality.
